The Santa Monica Pier is a local icon, located in the Santa Monica Bay in the city of Santa Monica. The pier contains Pacific Park, a family amusement park with its one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art, solar paneled Ferris wheel. (This should not be confused with Pacific Ocean Park, a former amusement park a few miles south of Santa Monica Pier, which operated from 1958 to 1967 and is now demolished.)
I like to photograph in the wee hours so I can capture the energy and spirit of a place without the throngs of people . This is the entrance to the park.
These next two are taken from a small sub deck built to accommodate fishing.
Did I mention I LOVE to photograph storm clouds?
I call them “The Guardians”.
This the view from the back to the front of the Pier
And lastly, probably my favorite photo because it was my first, the Pier just after sunset:
I have really only mentioned some of the highlights here. Truly, one could do a whole travellogue on the Pier and it’s many attractions, arcades, and restaurants. The best thing to do is just come on down and visit! You won’t waste your time.
til next time.
